Organic Certification

Beechlawn Organic Farm is proud to be a fully approved and certified organic farm. This accreditation is bestowed by the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association (IOFGA).

IOFGA is a national authority responsible for certifying the organic integrity of foodstuffs, produce, and products for farmers, growers, food processors, wholesalers, traders, and retailers. IOFGA also promotes organic food and farming by providing information and training on organic farming and food production.

As the industry regulators, IOFGA operates an inspection scheme approved in Ireland and the UK and maintains a set of rigorous organic production and food processing standards. Beechlawn Organic Farm are inspected annually and hold Licence No. 4556 IOFGA IRL-0IB2-EU.

Work Opportunities

World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) is a global organisation that provides a network of opportunities to work on Organic Farms in exchange for room and board. It started in the UK in 1971, and is now an international movement that helps people share more sustainable ways of living.

WWOOF is an exchange, in return for volunteer help WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic lifestyles. The volunteers do not pay for their stay, and their hosts do not pay volunteers for their help.

Working as a Volunteer

Volunteer work includes sowing, planting, thinning, watering, feeding, weeding and harvesting vegetables, digging, ploughing and tilling the soil with tractor and farm machinery, packing veg and fruit for market days and home deliveries, market stall set up, market sales, general farm maintenance and feeding pigs.

Full board is provided including food, heated accommodation, toilet, shower, Television and DVD player.
