A leading local grower and seller of organic fruit and vegetables, Beechlawn Organic Farm supply home deliveries, Farmers' Markets, and wholesale customers with fresh, seasonal, local organic produce.
Beechlawn Organic Farm grow a wide range of organic vegetables on 5 acres in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The farm includes 16,000 sq ft of protected cropping (polytunnels).
Our own farm produce and other Irish sourced and imported organic produce are delivered fresh and direct to homes and weekly Farmers' Markets in Oranmore, Loughrea, Ballinasloe and Athlone.
It is much more environmentally friendly to produce vegetables organically than from chemical farming methods.
The extra needs of organic farming, such as providing vegetables with natural feeds and using nets to protect vegetables from insects and birds, is a small sacrifice compared to the long term damage to insects, birds, animals, soil fertility and the climate that chemical farming inflicts.
By selling our produce locally the vegetables don't cause unnecessary food miles. For example, a truck bringing cabbage from Spain consumes more transport fuels, thus causing more greenhouse gas and pollution emissions than vegetables sold within a short distance of where they were grown.
Selling local produce to local people helps the local economy by keeping jobs and money in the area.
